31 July 2008: Preventing economic risks

Klöcker Bros. at trade fair in Shanghai

Weseke/Shanghai (pd). The textile show ITMA/CITME Asia 2008 in Shanghai was characterized by an overall purchase reluctance. Until July 31st, 2008, a total of 1.300 exhibitors, 135 from Germany, presented their innovations on a surface of 126.500 square meters. The company Klöcker Bros. from Weseke is being represented by employees from Germany, Indonesia, Italy and Taiwan.

Although many customers from Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Japan and Pakistan again visited the textile show, dismal prospects on the international economic situation resulting from the banking crisis, currency turbulence as well as a global explosion of energy and raw material prices put high pressure on the business according to the company’s report.

Nevertheless, all leading weaving machine manufacturers exhibited just as they did four years ago, and Klöcker is very proud of the fact that all manufacturers not only trust on accessories from Borken. The three fastest weaving machines made in Belgium and Japan were equipped with high-performance leno devices from Klöcker as well.

“Although claiming for intellectual property rights in China yet is difficult, expensive and time-consuming, all the new products Klöcker presented on the occasion of this exhibition, fortunately were patented in the Chinese market as well”, the report continues.

Klöcker finally faces the prevailing currency problem with an increased production level in Bandung, Indonesia, where the US-dollar is the predominant calculation base instead of the strong Euro. At the same time, Klöcker Bros. guarded themselves against the price explosion in the raw material markets through corresponding price settings in time.

The international focus of Klöcker thus strengthens the site in Borken which, depending on licensing requirements and orders, shall be enlarged in fall 2008 or spring 2009.
